2.8 next-minor watch
There is an active 2.8 label and punchlist. Signals point to routing, amateur-radio region support, ham-mode validation, and payload/routing instrumentation work.
Canadaverse watchlist
This is not an official Meshtastic roadmap. It is a Canadaverse readout of major and minor firmware signals, with confidence labels and source links.
Current observed firmware stream is 2.7.x Alpha. Latest checked release: v2.7.25.104df5f, published June 10, 2026.

There is an active 2.8 label and punchlist. Signals point to routing, amateur-radio region support, ham-mode validation, and payload/routing instrumentation work.
The 2.9 label has a much thinner public signal. Treat it as a parking lane until more merged work, release notes, or maintainer-visible planning appears.
The upstream 3.0 label is described as planned for the next major release. Public items cluster around packet structure, telemetry protos, filesystem reliability, and EU433 radio definitions.
The current release stream is still 2.7.x Alpha. The latest checked release, v2.7.25.104df5f, includes merged work for:
Open labeled work suggests 2.8 is the active minor target, while 3.0 is reserved for larger protocol and compatibility work. Timing is not inferred.
These items are tracked as compatibility risks rather than promises. They deserve extra attention before Canadaverse firmware guidance changes.
Hardware-facing signals are strongest around radio-region additions, high-power board support, nRF52 reliability, and ESP32 generation differences.
GitHub releases are the source of truth for what landed.
GitHub labels anchor the 2.8, 2.9, and 3.0 watchlists.
Meshtastic GitHub docs explain upstream project workflow.
Official downloads remain the recommended firmware path.
Editorial rule: this page does not forecast dates. Confidence means source strength, not certainty. Automation is intentionally deferred until the manual readout has the right shape.
